I have told stories to students for years. In fact, I wrote an article for the American Orff-Schulwerk's publication, The Echo, about story telling in the music classroom. It seems that the power of storytelling can 'pre-teach' a musical concept. Many years ago, my second graders could not move to a macro-beat, so I told them a story about "Slo-Mo Cereal: the Cereal That Really Slows You Down." The students were able to move in 'slow motion' just like the characters in the story. All I had to do was add a slow beat.

I've added a story here "The Washing Machine Box" which is based on an actual occurrence in my childhood. Take a listen!
