Scottish Dance

Everyone is welcome to join us. If you are familiar with square dancing or New England contra dance you already know more about Scottish Country Dance than you realize. For example, a right hand star is right hands across in Scottish dance.  Or, a hey  in contra dance is a reel in Scotland...

We had a great time with our new friends from Texas and friends from the Greater Jamestown area on July 27. Danced "Lamb Skinnet, Shiftin' Bobbins, Mairi's Wedding, The Clansmen, Reel of the 51st, The Birks of Invermay, Rakes of Glasgow..." Wow! Lots of dancing!!

We have danced through lots of dances such as: Mairi's Wedding, Major Ian Stewart, Ladies Fancy, The Flowers of Edinburgh, Hooper's Jig, Posties Jig, The Reel of the 51st, The Reel of the Royal Scots, A Man's a Man for a' That, Strathglass Houses, The Birks of Invermay, Mrs, MacLeod, The Tipsy Vicar and many others.

Fees

Admission to our dances is usually $5 per person and $10 per family. Most of the money collected goes to our gracious hosts-the Conanicut Grange/Senior Center and Jamestown Senior Association.
